I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute with a look at SEND HELP, directed by Sam Raimi, starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien. An employee and boss must survive when their plane crashes into the ocean and they are stranded on an island.

3.5 out of 5

Thank God for Sam Raimi. He makes an original horror comedy like every 10 years and they are all wildly creative. This film is lunacy; a demented rollercoaster that plays like a cross between EVIL DEAD 2, OFFICE SPACE, and CAST AWAY. It is gory and hilarious and mean and messy, often all at the same time. Now, the middle section drops energy quite a bit. And part of the satirical tone here is that NONE of these characters are good, and that feel eventually got so bleak, that it might have been too much even for me. But Sam Raimi needs to keep making these loopy original thrill rides, there is nothing else out there like it!

Best Scene. So many. The plane crash scene. The rat scene. The CPR scene. But the sheer shock I experienced while watching the wild boar scene can’t be matched. It goes over-the-top, and then finds a level BEYOND that to achieve a feeling of psychotic ally gory 3 Stooge s madness that is breathtaking.

Best Performance. Rachel McAdams is flat-out astounding. She is game to go big; fearlessly into caricature at parts, but still capable of achieving relatability with the audience. The drinking scene has her cycle through 6 or 7 subtle emotions in the span of seconds and I was floored. I am not exaggerating, this is absolutely Oscar-nominating material.

I wouldn’t suggest this for many people. But if you love creativity, and gonzo nutty humor and gore tickles you, check it out now!
