Sasquatch Movie Minute - TRANSCRIPTS of video reviews

Bridgerton (TV)

I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute and its Wonky Wednesday so we are doing a TV Take and looking at the show BRIDGERTON, created by Shonda Rimes, that just finished its 4th season. The show is about the Bridgerton Family in 1800s London high society looking for love, happiness, and gossip. It’s a wildly anachronistic take on history, but it is quite delightful and scandalous.

I gave Season 1 with Daphne a 3.5, Season 2 with Anthony a 5, Season 3 with Colin a 3, and now Season 4 with Benedict a 4outof5.

BRIDGERTON is not my usual viewing genre, but without fail, I am swept up, every season, with the emotion of the story. This year focused on Benedict Bridgerton, the charming, artistic son who shuns any type of responsibility. This season he meets and falls in love with Sophie, an extremely forbidden act due to the fact that Sophie is a maid! This opens up a new aspect of the show; an upper-class/lower-class dynamic that finally starts to look just a bit at the role of the servants to the wealthy. This plot tact breathed some new air into a show in its 4th Season. Perhaps the romance wasn’t as strong, but the depth of the side stories deepened.

Best Plotline. I was really drawn to the lovely story of Mrs. Bridgerton, who finally decides to focus on herself and see if she can find love again, over a decade after the death of her husband. Ruth Gemmell is fantastic; she can convey so many emotions and thoughts with just a raised eyebrow across the room or a quick turn of her head. Her delightful befuddlement and tender kindness while courting another man are so much fun to watch. And I do love the Queen plot, seeing the depth of her love for her friend, Lady Danbury.

Best Performance. I always look forward to any scene with Eloise, played by Claudia Jessie. She can make a whole acting meal with just a scone and a glare. It was exciting to see her rebellious nature actually evolve this season.

Another delightful season of BRIDGERTON, can we please fast-forward to the season of Eloise?!?
