Sasquatch Movie Minute - TRANSCRIPTS of video reviews
The Devil Wears Prada 2

I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute with a look at THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2, directed by David Frankel, starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep. This sequel continues the adventures of Andy and Miranda as they navigate the fashion world.
4 out of 5
What a treat, this is exactly what a legacy IP sequel should be! It gives call-outs to the original with Easter eggs both subtle and obvious, it pushes the characters to mature in fun ways, and still offers plenty of fantasy rich-people couture. I did think it got off to a terrible downer of a start, but quickly improved once the band was back together. The last act got bloated with too many reveals and while Hathaway and Blunt looked spectacular, Streep’s outfits were really awful! In real life, I am an Executive Assistant and I despise the first film for its portrayal of assistant culture. The sequel was far less about EA life, and I enjoyed it so much more.
Best Scene. There is a car scene near the end that allows the actors to really dig into the psychology of their characters and make points about work/life balance and finding meaning in your journey. And just when the scene starts getting too sweet and sappy, it snaps back to a moment of sad sharpness. Fantastic acting and lovely tonal balance.
Best Performance. This is a generous film, it gives all the actors at least one great scene. But Emily Blunt rules this movie. She is supremely confident and each line crackles. I love Hathaway here, she is open and professional, but also still willing to look silly. She has one scene in a fight where she drops a ‘No’, that was so Miranda-like cold, it gave me chills.
Grab your friends and partners, and get out to this movie, it is a delight!
