Sasquatch Movie Minute - TRANSCRIPTS of video reviews
Daredevil, S2 (TV)

I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute and its Wonky Wednesday so we are doing a TV Take and looking at DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN, Season 2 on Disney+, starring Charlie Cox. The devil of Hell’s Kitchen continues his never-ending fight with the crooked mayor of NYC, Kingpin.
Season 2 gets a 2.5 out of 5.
A small improvement over Season 1, but we have GOT to move past this endless retread of Kingpin vs. Daredevil. I have 100% had it with the Batman-copy plotline of heroes not-killing villains. Daredevil fights SO hard to both beat the crap out of Kingpin AND not to kill him. But the whole plot of the season is how the corrupt justice system will never change, so every time Daredevil lets Kingpin go, HE is responsible for the inevitable deaths Kingpin will cause. This superhero plotline has become SO overused by this point, it’s just dumb and lazy. Show us a NEW solution to the no-kill quandary other than, ‘Damn, I guess he goes free again. Well, we tried!’ I did really love a status-kuo changing court case in the finale!
Best Plotline. I really liked Bullseye. This guy is a true psychopath but he thinks there is more to himself than that. His prayers and pain and eventual acceptance of his own insanity are tragic and interesting. Plus he is part of the single best sequence of the season; his diner fight set to Billy Joel in Episode 4.
Best Performance. Michael Gandolfini is doing some really excellent sly work as Kingpin’s office toady. In many ways, he seems to be imitating his famous father’s chops from THE SOPRANOS. But then you realize he is playing off that audience knowledge to create something sad and quiet and all his own.
Some fun moments on the fringes, but this show needs to try something new.
