I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute with a 2025er review, looking at GOOD FORTUNE, written and directed by Aziz Ansari, starring Aziz, Seth Rogen, and Keanu Reeves. A bumbling minor angel meddles in the lives of a VC millionaire and a struggling gig worker.

Perfectly pleasant, with some light laughs and woefully inept attempts at depth. The jokes are situational, not really LOL funny. I think some of the early character building scenes are nice and gentle, it feels like an intrusion when the angel part of the story picks up. A lot of the shenanigans in the second half feel random and the pace really flags. The wrap-up is shockingly simplistic, dumping all the hard work done about class and social structure in favor of a light-buzz warm ending. And what is up with the current Hollywood obsession with showing saunas and cold plunges??

Best Scene. I liked the bit where Keanu tries to convince Aziz that money doesn’t make you happy and through a series of scenes, Aziz shows Keanu he is dead wrong. It’s truthful and a funny inversion of how these stories usually go.

Best Performance. I am seeing a lot of praise for Keanu for this one and I just don’t get it. He seems really lost and while that may apply to his character, it just feels like HE is lost as an actor without a strong silent script. Aziz is doing standup and the others aren’t there long enough to make an impact. No Best Performance.

This movie is decent, humorous, but nothing special; I hope Aziz gets back on track with some incisive harder humor in his next script!
