I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute catching up on some 2026 movies with a look at THE WRECKING CREW on Amazon Prime, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, starring Dave Bautista Jason Momoa.

2.5 out of 5

Dumb violent action fun with a stunning background. The plot is Two Hawaiian beefcake brothers avenge their fathers death by mowing down a bunch of nameless faceless goons. I am really appreciating Jason Momoa’s dedication to his Hawaiian heritage, between CHIEF OF WAR and this film, he is bringing productions and film money to Hawaii. If I am going to see a funny shoot-em-up film, I would rather it be in a location where I can get  a sliver of local culture and a smattering of indigenous actors and this film brings that. Unfortunately, some of the action scenes are a CGI mess. The plot is threadbare and there is a big whiff when we are asked to care about the father relationship when we only see him for like 2 seconds.

Best Scene. The first big fight scene in Momoa’s house is a blast. Crunchy fight choreography with big wrestling moves with messy impacts and creative use of weapons. Someone crafted this scene with love and a violent demented glee. I was especially amused by Momoa’s idea of a swordfight.

Best performance. This is the kind of Momoa I like. I don’t like him mean and petty and agro like MINECRAFT. Similar to his character in FAST X, Here he is flamboyant, violent, and fun. See how he is able to make a whole wordless comedic acting meal out of simply walking into a bad guy’s house. I also love seeing Morena Baccarin getting to cut loose for one crazy but over-CGI’d scene.

Funny, silly, and violent, have a good time.
