RISE combines two different narratives about two women living through similar circumstances a century apart. The modern storyline is about Molly, a pregnant woman living with an abusive husband, Lonnie. The past tale is about Kara attempting to free herself and her baby from the terrifying reign of the town sheriff, Cy. Molly finds a letter Kara wrote and uses Kara's strength to cope with Lonnie's violence.
