Whitney Allen - Footage TBD

Meghan Glennon

Take 1

Meghan Glennon is a young actress whose only real credit to date is as 'Lila' on DEADWOOD. I had never really noticed her on the show, until she had this showstopper scene in the second season between her and Powers Boothe in bed. It stuck with me and I wanted to see if she had some oomph behind her.

First off, she is TALL. I mean, like 6'+. We were on the SONY lot and I was able to direct her and she was able to take direction well. Though I'm not sure what she was thinking with the outfit.

This first take, I asked her to go far with it, really breakdown, then pull it back to a ruthless feel in the final line. I thought she did very well, I do always like the fake criers. Let me know what you think.

Take 2

In this take, I asked Meghan to tone it down a bit, play the scene as shell-shocked, a woman who has been through so much, who is so dead inside, the death of her son just leaves her hollow. This would set up a nice juxtaposition with her tears when she kills Cy later. That final moment could then be a realization that she still has tears left after all.

Meghan didn't quite get as dead and disspassionate as I wanted, but it still feels very steely.

Take 3

Here, I just wanted to get some angles on her face as she did half of the monologue. Not very steady, it looks much better when I used to do this in SF with the HGX200.

Conversation

I just wanted to see how her give-and-take was, get a sense as to what her personality, energy is. You know, is she rude on set, or can she hold interest in a conversation? That kind of thing.

Kathleen Mulready

Take 1

This is a young woman who lives in San Francisco, is a theater/opera person without much film experience. I just thought she would be an interesting choice, I liked her open face. Unfortunately, I was unable to direct this audition, I had a friend tape her while she was in New York, and they didn't give good direction. This take is more subdued then the other two, but they really are basically the same. I also didn't like the choice to use the glass, I wish my taper had listened to my instructions better. Oh well! Let me know what you think.

Take 2

Take 2, not much difference, maybe a little more intense. I would have liked to see her take it farther.

Take 3

Final take. A bit more intense, like she got more comfortable. The thing is, I know she can get more intense, I have seen her do it onstage, eh, what are you going to do!
