Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass

I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute at the final Park City Sundance and I am here with a review for GAIL DAUGHTRY AND THE CELEBRITY SEX PASS
2.5 out of 5.
This film is directed by David Wain and stars Zoey Deutch and a whole truckload of celebrity cameos.
This is a comedy; but a very absurdist, silly, non-reality-based comedy. Light as a feather, the film is mostly based around funny gags. I find it difficult to connect with a film like this as the characters are not really acting like real people. I enjoyed all the light Holly wood satire, from the digs at talent agency CAA to weird audio loops, to the called-out use of Chateau Marmont and abandoned western backlots.
Best scene: I liked the scene on the western town set; it had a great fight scene and the gag about guns in a trashcan worked for me.
Performance. Zoey Deutch does really manage to hold this whole thing together; she is able to meld her sunny innocent disposition with a more raunchy sex-positive side and have it actually work. I won’t dare spoil the cameos, but Jon Slattery from MAD MEN, playing himself, is hilarious, you look forward to whenever the camera swings back to him.
Nothing to run out and see it, catch it on a slow night, have a few chuckles, and instantly forget.
