I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute at the final Park City Sundance and I am here with a review for THE SHITHEADS

3 out of 5.

This film is directed by Macon Blair and stars Dave Franco and O’Shea Jackson Jr.

A shaggy bros road trip movie (hence my hat). Franco and Jackson play two drivers hired to transport a rich teen to rehab. Episodic insanity follows. Nothing special, fun, but about 30 minutes too long. The camaraderie between Franco and Jackson are excellent together. The film turns surprisingly violent while still keeping the light tone. A lot of great celebrity cameos here too. A mid-credit scene would have fit better in the actual finale.

Best scene. The motel sequence in the middle is weird, funny, and gross. A perfect combination that is repeated a few times after that to lesser effect. I was so pleasantly surprised by a shocking explosive gag in the motel sequence that I yelled out loud.

Performance. Dave Franco can probably play this kind of stoner slacker character in his sleep at this point. But he is really good at it and always holds the focus of the film. The ending for his character is perfect.

Fun ride, perfect for a late night binge with snacks and drinks.
