I’m Trevor with the Sasquatch Movie Minute and we are going to do a Wonky Wednesday project from now until the end of the year; Trevor’s Top 25 Films of the Last 25 Years. Today we are starting with 5 or so Honorable Mentions that didn’t quite make the Top25 cut.

SICARIO, directed by Deni Villeneuve. Such a dark, dank emotionally turgid dive into the Mexican drug war. Awesome performances, especially Blunt and Brolin. Incredible visuals. Tough watch.

CASINO ROYALE. A miraculous reinvention of Bond with the perfect Daniel Craig. Light, witty, with that revelatory starting parkour fight and Eva Green as all-time Bond girl. Venice finale is a let-down.

CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE. A frothy, hilarious, beautiful comedy with a perfect performance by Ryan Gosling. A jaw-drop reveal at the end. But a terrible icky awful side plotline.

PRISONERS. Another dark, dank thriller about child abduction. Morally complex and difficult. Stunning visuals. Hugh Jackman’s best work and a beautiful hopeful last shot. Didn’t buy the bad guy.

3 comedies that I love and couldn’t decide between. HOT FUZZ. My favorite of the Cornetto Trilogy. Parody, action, gore, Simon Pegg, this has everything. THE OTHER GUYS. Hilariously funny. I think of the whisper fight or Wahlberg’s scenes with Eva Mendez on a weekly basis. TROPIC THUNDER. Perfect Hollywood parody, Downey’s blackface is shocking and it works. Tom Cruise using his manic insanity perfectly.
