I love this cheesy, big-hearted film. The time travel rules are hazy and not well-defined, but that means that the rules are not as important as the more emotional concepts being explored. Look, there are manipulative, problematic parts of this concept, much like Curtis’s dreadful LOVE ACTUALLY. But I rank this one in the top 25, because I often come back to this simple concept. To live each day as if you were experiencing it a second time. So that the stresses and annoyances of the day are weatherable and unimportant next to the simple joys of connection and human touch. This is a concept I strive for, and so often fail to achieve, but its aspirational and its informed how I live my life.

Best Scene. Its inconsequential to the main plot, but the scene where McAdams tries on several dresses in front of her exasperated husband is comedic perfection. It is trivial and protracted, and so identifiable as a husband, I love that the film made room for this silly scene.

Best Performance. Bill Nighy as the father, slays me. His offhand nature, his casual un-embarrassed love for his son is inspiring. His spontaneous nature towards life and love feels like it hits an essential truth.

This is a lovely film that I still think about; love, hope, and positivity. What better way to start of this list!
